Words in Passing
Chief Seattle Si’ahl 1780 – 1866
~ ~ What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the children of the Earth.
The thought of the above brings thought of Cecil the lion, it also brings to mind the dentist that killed Cecil, that dentist spent a good deal of money to illegally kill an animal, but he also had his business shut down due to his actions; ask that dentist now if dignity doesn’t matter.
No one can, in reality, tell another person how to live right in today’s society, and quite honestly; taking the time to do so, is quite often wasted time. Like the dentist, he had money, too much maybe, he had the nice things in life, a successful business, and apparently he could amass the funds for an illegal hunt; but that didn’t stop him from being taken in by scrupulous safari guides, or from being plain old stupid. Money and false power brought on by wealth never cares if your stupid in your actions, that’s just not it’s job.
A young man was rightfully disheartened, he and a group of people built, and delivered a flying machine, of sorts; but they didn’t get the chance to see their efforts in action. They went to Portland Oregon from San Diego to enter a contest, that had been on a few year shutdown for whatever reason. They run homemade flight crafts on human power down a ramp into a river to see how far they can make it. Well, people being the people that they are today, the Coast Guard shut the show down, and rightfully so. The river was so blocked by people in speed boats and other large watercraft, not to forget the canoes and kayaks also. But, there was such a crowd there that people said they couldn’t move around; they had children out there with them. One shot showed people drinking alcohol, the party was on, but if someone would have fallen between the boats, they would have died, no one would have known they were drowning. But when the alcohol is used in abundance, couple that to all the bikini clad or trunk wearing tan and party seekers that are smoking their “Medical Marijuana”; you have a recipe for some humbling times when you see your best friend face down in the water.
As a Society, we don’t need to change anything, because we know what we are doing; and we know what’s best. We don’t have to listen to, pay attention to, learn from any person that’s gone before us, because we know where we are heading. And we certainly don’t have to listen to someone that knows something of value, over say some expert, just because they have a degree from dysfunction university, those kinds of people that have lived and learned but don’t have degrees; they aren’t trend setting or fun enough.
Dignity again, Trump and Clinton are doing good in the stats, but they are doing good in the stats of a following society; if ones ego doesn’t drastically hurt this country, the others lies will. But let’s just sit back over the next few years and see if dignity, respect and true freedom get rekindled; or if we stay the same society of uncertainty that we have become but refuse profusely to acknowledge.
And if we wait for another fifty four years, we as a society will be able to look back with a hundred year old view of how America lost it’s backbone, that is if anyone looks at history then.
But think about it, anyone twenty years old right now, when they are at that fifty plus year date ahead, they may be just about to lagally retire; the math and the perception of society’s future is yours to do and see. If they can’t afford to retire, buy needed meds, or reverse a mortgage, then what will they be saying then; about the people of today. Ah, they had good bike-paths, smart phones and smart cars, but for a government for the people, by the people; they sure had a lousy government to leave us with this mess. The sweet sound of complacent inheritance.

~ ~ Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.
Chief Seattle, a name now more synonymous with Grunge music, police cover-ups, and coffeehouse coffees to go. Was he right, just look at what we base our values on today, not very stunning is it. But one thing is for sure, the person that said, if everything is Kool, then nothing is Kool; they were very right, all that popular and political correctness, something’s we as a society should not wrap our minds and arms around. And some of the things that we should, we ignore, but we should at least listen and try to understand more of what’s around us….
Mainly because we are all; connected.
